After we left Pipe Spring, we drove to Kanab and ate lunch at Houstons Restaurant.  We drove main street just to see the city, and saw different movie sets from old western movies which Kanab is famous for.  Then we drove through Zions and through a tunnel that was over a mile long.  You can see an opening in the mountain where the road would be.
We  saw these mountain goats close to the highway after we entered Zions park.  John W. Powell in 1895 called Zion the Music of Waters.  It was really a beautiful drive.

Thank you for the really nice birthday gift.  I will enjoy sitting in it when the weather cools down a bit.  It rained today so Tori and I sat on a towel.  The glider has a nice cushion that I didn't want to get wet.  I love you all.

September 6.  Your dad and I were tired of hanging out in St. George, so we took a drive out to Kanab, Utah.  This is a town where Jacob Hamblin took his family so he could work with the Hopi indians.  We stopped at Pipe Spring which was a tithing ranch.  The first settlers here were killed by the indians.
You can see the spring in between these two trees.  This spring has been here for hundreds of years.
The pioneers came here in covered wagons and built this fort like structure.  They called it Winsor castle.  There are two ponds below the house which then flow out into the fields below.  This area is now a historical spot and the Arizona Park Service take care of it.  I was impressed to see that they really focused alot on the settlers who were the first mormons in the area.  1858-1863

Labor Day Weekend-- WOW!

So, we were working in the Temple Visitor Center on Sunday afternoon/evening.  It was crazy busy!  I began to feel sorry for myself, thinking that all I was, was a glorified record keeper as so many guests were coming into the VC Annex.  All of them were members, you can quickly tell!
About 45 minutes before closing God showed his tender mercy to me.  Yes, a couple from Toronto came in the Annex.  For some reason there was no other guests at that time and I finally had a chance to visit with them.  They said they were "kind of " Catholic.  Then he said, "but we are really fans of your Church and Religion.  WOW... I knew where to go quickly with that.  We had a great discussion about: Joseph Smith's First Vision- They had been to the Palmyra Pageant!  They knew of Moroni but not much.  Then we discussed the Restoration and the Book of Mormon. They sounded like they had been studying about our religion".  This went on until close to closing time and then I suggested that they view the video on "God's Plan for His Family."  They agreed and I sent them there with a Sister Missionary from Canada.  I saw them coming out of the Video and he had tears coming down his face.  He said to me; "You didn't tell me this would make me cry"  He was touched as was his wife.  We talked longer about the BOM and reading it.  They read Moroni 10:3-5 for me and committed to reading and having Missionaries come see them in Canada.  I got all of their INFO.....
It was amazing.......
