ANOTHER GREAT EXPERIENCE AT THE VCENTER
Sunday- October 27, 2013

I was in the VC Annex just visiting with everyone that came in and THEN there was this couple from Germany.  I was standing at the desk and welcomed them.  We exchanged small talk and they said they were in St. George on business and would be back every 6 months or so.  They had been surrounded by LDS members that past few days and just could not stop talking about the difference they readily saw in us vs. there countrymen in Germany.  Kind, listen, positive, happy, secure are just a few of the things they noticed.  They stopped by the VC to learn about "Mormons" and our beliefs.  They asked if members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints were also the people they had been with called Mormons. They had no clue about us or our beliefs other than the goodness they saw in their business associates in St. George that are LDS.  I was with them for over 50 minutes explaining about our Church, Prophets, the Restoration of the Gospel, Temples, etc. etc.  They were like sponges as I just could not feed them fast enough.  They identified themselves as he- Catholic, she- Protestant.  They both took a Book of Mormon in German, and promised to read and pray about it.  They also said they were open to Missionaries in Germany visiting them, but wanted to read first.  We will see if they will email me with their thoughts as they read.  I hope to see them again, when they are back here in 6 months.
The Church is TRUE!  Our EXAMPLE is always on display!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA JAY
How does it feel to be 65?

It was a beautiful day to play golf.  The only problem was he had no competition.
We play golf at Green springs.  We decided it was an expensive day of golf.
We lost way too many balls
We drove to Virgin then turned north and drove up to Kolob resevoir.
We continued driving to the top and looked out over Zions canyon.

We just had to take some more pictures.
Makell, Lindsey, and Kylee are sitting on Grandmas new chair everyone gave me for my birthday.

Wow!  Those are the cutest kids I've ever seen.

It is so special to have our mother and grandmother in a photo together.
Eloise, came to Monroes baby blessing.

Swimming in grandpa's pool is a must.

Harper learning to swim.  So much fun.

Saturday, October 19, 2013 Kevin and Allyson blessed their sweet little daughter Monroe Grace.
It was a very special day for everyone.  Many family and friends came to share the joy of having Monroe be a part of their lives.
Big sister, Harper, loves her little sister, Monroe.  She calls her Roe, Roe.
She gives her hugs and kisses all the time.

We had our annual Halloween Birthday Party to celebrate all the birthdays that are in the month of October.  The grandkids dress up in their favorite costumes to thrill all of us.
It was a really fun night for everyone.

                                                           It's costume time.  Hey smile.

Hey Kari where are you hiding?  It was your birthday too.
Sweet little Monroe even got to dress up.  She is a lady bug.
I don't think she was too impressed as her costume kept tickling her face.
Look at those two cute fairys, or were they angels?
                                                              Staying out of trouble
It is hard to have to wait your turn at the pinata.
Wyatt and Harper loved batting away at the pumpkin filled with treats.
                                                             Pretty cute costumes.
Friday, Oct 18 we served at Brighams winter Home.  Jay is telling the family about the mulberry tree that had tree surgery in 1972.  A turnbuckle was put into the tree to keep it from spliting apart.  Surgery, steel rods, and cables gave new life to this historical tree and remind us of the Saviors atonement that provides salvation and eternal life to all mankind.
The family are looking for pecans that have fallen on the ground.
Brighams home has alot of treats for those who come to visit.

I didn't think that this day would ever arrive.
Just to think that I would have my sweet family around me again.
Lisa came down Tuesday night.  Jay and I worked at Jacob Hamblin home in the morning so Lisa was in charge of picking up Kevin, Allyson, Harper and Monroe at the St. George airport.

Kari, and Marcia drove down Wednesday night.  The kids jumped right in the pool the next day.  Jay and I went to the Visitor Center to serve, so the family came over to see what we did there.

Grandpa Jay telling the grandchildren about the building of the St. George temple.
We are so blessed to know that our Savior, Jesus Christ is always willing to hold out his arms of Love to each of us.  He is there waiting to welcome us back whenever we stumble or need his help.

Elder Bowcutt was asked to be an assistant to the Director of the visitor center mission.
He is in charge of the training of the Senior missionaries.
We are at the October Hi & Goodbye party.  They love to have a theme for the night.
The Narramores are leaving and they are from Evanston, Wyoming.
Dad says:This is a cute little cowgirl! Ha, Ha.
This cute little dress was my project for the month of Sept.
Thankfully I had the time to finish it.
My sister Peggy, and my mother Eloise came by the temple visitor center.
It was so nice to see them and to go to Dixie Red Hills and play golf.
We had a wonderful time together.

We have been waiting for two months for the pomegranats to ripen at Brighams home.
We finally picked one yesterday.  The sisters says they are pretty tasty.

This is the telegraph in Brighams office.  It was his way of communicating with church headquarters in Salt Lake City.  It is so important for us to keep in contact with our Father in Heaven.  We need to keep those lines of communication open without any interference from outside sources.  He communicates with us through the Holy Ghost and a still small voice.
Cotton was a very important industry for the Saints when they came to southern Utah.  It was hard work but for a time it paid off.  After the railroad came to Utah, it was cheaper to buy cotton products from the South and have them shipped into Utah.  Sometimes in life we find ourselves putting alot of time and energy into things that are not really benefical to us.  We need to step back and reevaluate where we are going and then decide to move on to what is really important in our lives.
The metal rod in this tree is called a turnbuckle.  It is holding this 100 yr old mulberry tree together.  It is quite a historical site in Brighams yard.  We remind the visitors that this is like the gospel of Jesus Christ.  It holds our families together and keeps us from falling away.  We are so blessed to have the restored church of Jesus Christ on the earth today.
This is a picture of Brigham Youngs home and office.  We enjoy serving here and sharing the gospel with people all over the world.  You can see the mulberry tree on the left side of this picture.

We are having a Hi and Goodbye party for the Senior Missionaries.  Sister Jarvis, was my trainer and they are leaving to go home.  We enjoy getting together to visit and with one another.
Sister Eyre was a delightful sister that we enjoyed serving with.  It wasn't hard to see the "light in their eyes".  She is also going home.

These are the sister missionaries serving in the St. George Mission.
 They are amazing young women.

September 11, was our preparation day.  Some of the sisters serving in St. George had not been to Zions Park.  Sister Eyre was going home, so we took her companion, plus two other sisters to Zions.  It was a fun day as we stopped in Springdale and had lunch.  Then we drove into the Park.  It was a rainy day and pretty gloomy, but the clouds hung in the mountains dressing them with beautiful mists, and we never would have seen the waterfalls if it had not rained.  So it turned out to be a special day.
